Choose right Air Conditioners

Many people find themselves seeking cooler locations when the mercury starts to climb. One way to escape from the heat is through the use of air conditioners. We may see them everywhere we look, but look past them.

A popular choice for air conditioners is the window unit. It is small and economical; easy to install and to use. The window unit is a great way to condition the air in a small room. If you live in a community, you may have a condenser unit in the backyard. Apartment complexes have many of these type units to condition the air in each individual dwelling. Office buildings typically hide about 10 or 20 of these units on their roofs. An office complex will utilize a large cooling tower connected to the air conditioning system.

Air conditioners do much more than just pump in cool air. What they are actually doing is recycling and cooling down the warmer air in the space in which they are working. The cycle will continue as long as your thermostat does not reflect the desired temperature.

The cycle of refrigeration is interesting. First, there is a compressor which compresses the Freon gas which causes it to become hot. The gas then goes through a series of coils to dissipate its heat until it condenses to a liquid form. After that, the Freon then runs through a valve where it evaporates and becomes a cold gas. The resulting cold gas flows through a set of coils to allow the gas to absorb heat, thus cooling the air in the room. With the Freon, there is lightweight oil that lubricates the compressor.

Because most units have filters, air conditioners also aid in removing dust, pollen, spores, and other allergens from the air. Air conditioners are also very effective for dehumidifying a room as they take excess water from the air and cool the unit with it before releasing it through a hose to the outside. It is always a good idea to research before you purchase. When you find the right air conditioner for your needs, you can enjoy the resulting comfort that it will provide.
